easy guacamole recipe

Guacamole has become my absolute favourite recently. This recipe is so quick and easy that I end up making it at least once or twice a week and add it to many meals, whether its to my scrambled eggs and toast in the morning, in my burger, or as a snack with some tortilla chips. Not only is it delicious but it's healthy too! 

Cilantro is another one of my favourites, so it's only natural that the ingredients of this guacamole recipe includes cilantro which adds great flavor to it. Now cilantro wasn't always one of my favourites.  Growing up in a household where Indian food was a staple, I grew up with lots of cilantro. Cilantro or dhaniya is added to many South Asian dishes as a garnish or seasoning.  For some reason, it just wasn't my thing up until I would say 5-6 years ago, where I just fell in love with it and now love adding it to everything.  I have found that is the story for many dishes, vegetables, or flavours for me.  I grew up not liking them, and when I tried the same thing when I was older, I loved it! 

Simple Guacamole


3 ripe avocados*
1/2 jalapeno seeded, minced
1 tomato diced
1/2 onion diced or 5-6 green onions chopped
1/4 cup cilantro chopped 
2 tbsp lime juice
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/8 tsp salt or add to taste
pinch of black pepper
pinch of ground cayenne pepper or add to taste 


  1. Peel and mash avocados in a medium serving bowl 
  2. Add lime juice, garlic powder, ground cumin, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper and mix
  3.  Add in the rest of the ingredients, jalapeno, tomato, onion, and cilantro, and mix
  4. Done! Refrigerate or serve immediately with some tortilla chips

    * it is important that the avocados are ripe and not firm
