summer's first hello

Top: H &M
Shorts: Forever 21
Shoes: H&M
Back pack: H&M
Necklace: Forever 21

Hello all, this is my first blog post for footnotes and finds and first fashion post as well! I would have posted sooner but I don't think that archaeological excavation wear would adhere to the trends people are searching for, but they would have garnered attention...believe me there were some outfits I wish to have surgically removed from my mind--But, more on Greece in a later post!
I am glad to be back and glad to be blogging!

How has everyone's summer been so far?

Raanjhanaa Review

I guess before starting my review on Raanjhanaa I should mention that Prabh and I just LOVE bollywood, or the correct term would be Indian Cinema. Therefore you might be seeing lots of talk here on the blog related to bollywood!

Now onto Raanjhanna.  I have mixed feelings about this one.

What I liked:   the amazing acting by the two leads Sonam Kapoor (another one of my favs) and newcomer to bollywood Danush. Danush was amazing for his bollywood debut, and Sonam Kapoor proved to any doubters that this girl can ACT! I definitely liked the first half of the movie more than the second half.

What I didn't like: What I didn't like was the portrayal of the female character (sonam kapoor) vs the male character (danush). The male lead is almost stalkerish, does makes some big mistakes with big consequences, but in the end of the movie he is the hero of the film who sacrifices everything for love. Whereas the female lead is portrayed as selfish, cruel and weak.

It was an alright movie, entertaining and funny at times.

Here is the trailer, sorry couldn't find one with english subititles:

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Review

Looking for romance, friendship, tears, laughter, coming of age, great songs, dance and beautiful costumes? Well you've got it all in this movie!

After a long time a good romance  bollywood movie has come out. And since it's been a long time it felt refreshing! Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Barfi and Kai Po Che, and often tell friends that put down bollywood to try these movies out and see how bollywood has moved away from the love triangles of the late 90's and early 2000's.  But you got to admit bollywood does romance the best! And with the new generation of filmmakers such as Ayan Mukherjee, bollywood has proven with this movie that they can still do romances, songs and dances, but now they can do it better.  Instead of the external conflicts of parents or class that used to be present in the romances of yesteryear's, you find internal conflicts that the characters need to overcome.

Breaking into the 100 crore club, it is obvious I'm not alone in loving this movie.  Although there is probably initial interest in the movie since ex flames Deepika and Ranbir are together for the first time after their breakup, the movie holds strong because of the fabulous acting by the four actors in the movie and the movie making by Ayan Mukerjee.  I can't ever say enough about my fav Ranbir Kapoor.  He is definitely living up to his family legacy, and does it again in this movie. proving to audiences that not only is he a great actor but a great dancer as well! Deepika Padukone has quickly become one of my favourite female actors.  Along with Cocktail and now this movie, she has really shown her acting abilities.  And yes I'm one of those fans that is just dying for Deepika and Ranbir to get back togehter! Kalki and Aditya Roy Kapur were perfect for the supporting roles and great actors themselves.  Having loved Ayan Mukerjee's Wake Up Sid, I was looking forward to this movie and he didn't disappoint.  I think he fits perfectly with the Dharma Productions banner, and is a great new generation bollywood director and storyteller.

So if you haven't already, I would definitely recommend checking outYeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Welcome to our new blog: footnotes & finds. You may recognize me, Tript and my sister Prabh, from our former blog that we ran with our younger sisters: Count To Four.  That blog was such an amazing learning experience that led us to some fabulous memories and opportunities! Although Count to Four is no more, Prabh and I decided that we wanted to continue blogging.

So here it is! Our new blog. Each person's life is filled with both footnotes and finds. We want to share our finds from movies, music, fashion to recipes and use the blog medium as a footnote to our life and experiences.

We loved all the love and support that we received from our readers worldwide and hope you will continue to support us here on our new venture.

{Featured} in Cosmo India!

white staple shirt multiple ways

{Styled by} Prabh
{Photographed by} Tript

First off we are extremely sorry for the lack of posts on here recently. Being down with the cold, papers, assignments, exams, and prom dressing shopping is just some of the excuses we have for being MIA on the blog.

But we are sooooo excited to share with our readers this amazing feature we've been working on and dying to share with you all! We were recently approached by COSMOPOLITAN - India magazine to do a feature.  The idea behind the feature was to choose a staple piece and style it in multiple ways.  Prabh chose to style a white collared shirt, which is a must have basic in anyone's closet. You can see in the spread the different ways she styled it, from casual to a night out, a white collared shirt can be so versatile.
We were so honoured to be featured in such a popular magazine and had so much fun doing this project! For our Indian readers, don't forget to pick up this March Issue of Cosmo India!

So it's the return of the statement scarf that I shared with you all last week here. I just love this scarf so much and so it makes another appearance on this blog! This time I chose to pair it with my favourite purchase this winter, this Joe Fresh maroon sweater. I've been down with the cold this week and have been catching up with some TV shows finally!

Here are some shows that I've been watching:

3 ways to do leopard print

leopard mix

LOOK 1: SMART HIPSTER
Smart hipster

In the blog post: The Leopard Touch I talked about how leopard screamed Fran Drescher from the Nanny to me and I wanted to work with the print to make it comfortable for me to wear. Thats where this look, the smart hipster, came in to being. I think it helps sub-due the leopard print and the pop-of-colour adds to it and in the end, I think its a smart looking outfit!

LOOK 2: SCHOOL DAY CASUAL

School day casual

Well, I know that I would wear anyone of these 3 outfits to school on any given day but I also know that not everyone has the energy nor motivation to wear looks 1 and 2 especially when everything feels like its due and crumbling around you. So this look in the blog post: Style inspiration: Deepika Padukone's Cocktail, is what I think would be perfect on any given day or time of a semester of school. Its both causal and easy to wear and above all its as effortless as it looks!

LOOK 3: PREPPY DAY OUT
Preppy day out

jewellery details
I remember when the leopard trend first arose couple of years ago I was hesitant to pick it up and not only that I made it clear that wearing gold and leopard made me think of a time in the 80s that I would have liked to forget. But, then I learned that its all about how you put things together. In this blog post: Of all the golden animals I tried to create an outfit that worked prints on prints and gold on leopard and I feel I came up with a preppy look that encompassed the leopard print (which, before this post, I thought was near impossible!)

Although the rest of Canada is experiencing snow storms, we are experiencing a nice warm winter, temperature being on average 4-6 degrees Celsius  It never really gets as cold as the rest of Canada here on the west coast, but this is definitely one of the warmer winters as of late. I do miss wearing my chunky knit scarfs over my chunky knit sweaters. I purchased this bright coloured warm wool scarf from our road trip to portland over the summer. It's super warm and cozy and a fun way to brighten up a outfit in the winter!

speaking of winter and winter accessories, don't forget to head over to our Count To Four Etsy Shop for some cute knitted accessories to add to your winter wardrobe! >>>> www.counttofour.etsy.com

I've also put together a collection of bright and fun scarves that will liven up your winter outfit:

Confession: I don't really like dogs.
Now, before you call me heartless and say "but they're so cute!" I want you to try and understand that an attack from a dog in my childhood has ruined all dogs for me...so blame that dog for my dislike!
Dogs however, couldn't ruin this mint blouse for me...I kind of even found the dog cute on it...it made the shirt really whimsical and more so the outfit.
