We were tagged by I Am Chic London to do a "20 facts about me" post. This took me longer than I thought, but here it is:
- I have a bleeding disorder called Von Willebrand disease, something I discovered at the age of 15. It's hereditary, so once I got diagnosed so did my mother, she had suffered her whole life without knowing she had it!
- I am the eldest of 4, I have three younger sisters, one of them being Prabh (who is the second from the top)
- some of my favourite music: U2, Bob Dylan, Arcade Fire, Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, Coke studio pakistan
- I am a huge dreamer which makes me a not very practical person for the so called "real world"
- As a volunteer a few years back, I went to India where I taught slum children in a makeshift school
- I was born and raised in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, and am in love with this city, my parents are both from India
- I am the shortest out of all my siblings (5'3" and 3/4)
- I have travelled to 14 countries including: India, Pakistan, Singapore, Portugal, Norway and more!
- I am a huge foodie, but having struggle with digestive problems my entire life, I recently discovered I have many food allergies, including wheat, therefore I eat a very restrictive diet that doesn't allow me to experience my favourite foods anymore (no more samosas or sholay bhaturas :( ) but has made me fall in love with new foods such as Kale!
- I have a degree in Psychology with a minor in International Relations, a second degree in Communications and a Masters in Gender and Development
- I love travelling, but absolutely hate flying (I have a fear of it and feel sick on a plane as well) I have a fear of spiders too!
- I've had my driver's license since the age of 17 but absolutely hate driving, I only drive if I really have to otherwise I use Vancouver's awesome public transport
- I was crazy enough to wait in a huge crowd at the airport last year when both Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor landed in Vancouver for the award show that was being held here. I managed to get Shah Rukh Khan's autograph! and I won tickets to the award show!
- I am a feminist and not ashamed of it.
- my name Tript means content, satisfied mind or peaceful mind which is quite ironic since I have generalized anxiety disorder
- My paternal grandparents lived with me my entire life and had a huge impact on my childhood and upbringing, they both passed away recently which was really tough for me
- My first language is English, but I am quite fluent in Punjabi (with a slight accent), I understand Hindi and Urdu. Since I am Canadian, I also learned some french growing up.
- My father was the first person in his village in Punjab, India to do a PhD.
- My favourite past time is reading hence I have a massive bookshelf in my room
- My great grandfather was a freedom fighter and poet (fighting for Indian independence from the british) and then Prime Minister of India Nehru, gave him the nick name "sidha jatt", he was also in jail with the famous freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
