One of my best and oldest friends on this earth celebrated her birthday in the most mid-20s way possible which--besides a few other big announcements--indicated to me that we are now not in our early 20s. With that being said, she threw a garden party and a very successful one where everyone brought lovely home baked food and their own teapots and tea cups as well as teas of choice. Unfortunately it was too hot to drink tea (even though I do it since I heard it helps you cool down) and we had homemade pink lemonade while sitting on blankets and catching up with friends we hadn't seen for a long time. What I got from this lovely afternoon that went into the evening was that we were grown up. I know its subjective and some people don't believe that its even a real thing--but hear me out. While one of my oldest friends announced to us she was pregnant, two others said that they were getting married. Even though my other friend from high-school and I looked at one another and stated that we feel pressure from other people's lives we both agreed that we were at a good pace in our lives since we all want different things from life. While it was a day of shocking but happy news, it was also a long drive back of reflection since I will be leaving for my Master's in a few weeks time and I just took the time to assess my life currently and the direction it was going. All in all, the lemonade was just the right amount of sweetness as the announcements were---I wasn't horrified, the pressure was a good kind, but most of all it was over ecstaticism for my good friends who were graduating into a new level of living and now I will get to know another side of them--this is where the excitement truly begins.
