Happy Diwali to all our readers! Diwali is an Indian festival of lights. It's celebrated in different parts of India for different reasons on the same day. But nonetheless everyone lights up Diyas and lights are turned on everywhere, fireworks go off, sweets are eaten, and gifts are exchanged. In general it's a festive, party, lively feeling in the air. Lots of light, gold and shimmer everywhere.
As I said before I really look forward to October. Diwali, Thanksgiving and Halloween all in one month! And I'm one for the holidays. Therefore for all three of these festivities I go all out. So this Diwali I bought plain diyas and decided to paint them myself. Diyas are lit as part of the festival of lights - diwali - again for different reasons depending on what part of India you are from. They are placed all over the house inside and outside. Super talented Interior Designer Jespreet (who also happens to be my cousin) helped me design and paint the diyas as well as styled this shoot!
The Plain Diyas
We painted them with acrylic paint
pink inside, black outside, and white polka dots on the rim
blue and red diya
The gold diyas were spray painted with gold metallic spray paint
Time to light the diyas
this is such a pretty and great DIY! thanks for sharing!
