Vegetarian Superbowl Snacks

Here is the thing, I don't know much about football. I'm a huge hockey fan,  Go Canucks Go! But with our close proximity to Seattle, much of Vancouver has jumped on the football bandwagon since last year.  Having cousins that live just across the border also contributes to all the Superbowl madness that is taking place at our house this year. My cousin, who is from south of the border is currently living with us and that has meant that I have given her company on watching many football games this year and have watched the Seattle Seahawks playoff run. So come this Sunday, it's going to be Go Seahawks Go! Although my cousin is going to be preparing some spicy hot wings this weekend for the big game, I decided to do my own vegetarian snacks for the superbowl, since I'm vegetarian! We are planning a little superbowl get together where many of us will be vegetarian.  Although when I first did a superbowl snacks search the primary results were those of bbq hot wings and the sorts. So I decided to put together my very own Vegetarian Superbowl Snacks roundup here:

Vegetarian Tacos

This vegetarian twist on tacos makes a great filling snack or meal even! Perfect for game day! Setting up a taco bar would be great especially if you are having lots of people over.

Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites

Yum, these classic superbowl snacks are always a favourite. These are great to munch on during those intense moments in the game.

Easy Guacamole Recipe

This might be the most easy and quickest recipe on this round up.  Guacamole is always a fav! Whether you serve it with chips, bread or even a topping for your tacos, this is definitely going to be a hit.

Cauliflower Breadsticks

These cheesy goodness cauliflower breadsticks make a perfect vegetarian superbowl snack idea.  Lots to go around and the cheesy goodness might even make you forget about those hot wings!

Quinoa Pizza Bites

This is such a great take on Quinoa! Not only would these be filling but also fun to eat! Great to make a whole batch of these if you are throwing a Superbowl Party.  And a testament to the fact that vegetarians can have some fun delicious vegetarian superbowl snacks as well!

There you have it! hope you will try some of these out!

|| Reading ||

I've decided I'm finally in the mood to read Wild by Cheryl Strayed. Although this book was originally part of my fall reading list, I didn't get to some of the books in the fall on the list due to going on the trip.  It's been on my kindle for a while!

|| Watching ||

 I'm re-watching one of my all time favourite tv shows, Dawson's Creek! I just love everything about this show, the inter connected relationships, the friendships, the teenage angst! but the best part is watching it with my younger sister who is 10 years younger than me and seeing things from her perspective (She's from the gossip girl generation!)

 The Nashville soundtrack.  Just this past fall I became obsessed with the TV show Nashville.  And who knew I would actually enjoy country music that much!

an honest update

An Honest Update....

It went from 2014 to 2015, My 30th birthday happened, and we came back from a long trip away from home. Since I've been back from this trip its been a big adjustment period. I've had a hard time adjusting my sleep, my appetite, my life. And in the midst of it all I got hit with a terrible stomach bug/ flu.  So whilst I was planning on reflecting back on 2014 and setting goals for 2015, I was instead lying on the couch with a loads of used kleenex and gatorade bottles.

I have big plans for the blog this year. I want to be more open on the blog, let you all into my world or brain that is. Being a natural introvert opening up like that can be extremely difficult for me in real life, so it's going to take a lot for me to do that on this medium. But it is something I feel that is necessary and missing from this blog.

So get ready to hear more about my health ordeals, insights into my life as a 30 year old, and of course my opinions on many subject matters that I'm passionate about -- such as feminism. This will all be in addition to the routine posts on here, recipes, travel, outfits, life etc. Because I enjoy blogging about all those things as well!

But for now I ask you be patient with me. I'm still recuperating from this illness. And honestly I'm a bit drained and burnt out from my trip from India. It kinda threw me off balance.  I promise to return with some great content! This doesn't mean I'm going completely MIA, it's just a little heads up that my blogging might not be as frequent as it has been until I get back to the normal routine of things around here!

Thank you Again!

*Prabh will be post intermittently, She is currently doing her Masters at Oxford

black and white home decor

black and white home decor

So I'm still on the road to recovery from this illness. In the mean time I share with you some home decor inspiration. It has been really exciting having a newly renovated space. We have had fun in the decorating process.  It's still an ongoing process, slowly adding pieces from our various shopping and travelling trips.  I truly enjoy a eclectic place with pieces from all sorts of places which have a story behind them. It's also fun to add some classic pieces, like these black and white pieces that you can always incorporate and mix and match!

Casual Look for spring/summer

casual

The lack of posting is due to me being down with some sort of flu/stomach sickness. This is definitely not how I wanted to start the new year here on the blog. But for now, I thought I would drop by with a quick blog post! As you can probably tell by this look, I'm craving some warmer weather. Where I can throw on a casual look like this and dress it up with some sunnies and lipstick! I'm over the winter! And yes I know it's still January and this might be too early, but hey one can still dream right? It's my goal this year to buy a comfortable pair of boyfriend jeans. I plan on being super comfortable this spring/summer! On the blog side of things, I hope I feel a bit better over the weekend and hope to resume more regular blogging next week! Thanks for your patience!

Reading | Indian Philosophy: A Very Short Introduction | Sue Hamilton

On my way to India I stopped in Oxford, England to visit Prabh.  On one of our walks around the cute little city we went into the Oxford University Press where I purchased 3 Oxford University Press paperback books.  They are great little books that summarize various different topics/subjects.  Since I was going to India I decided this book would be a great choice to read.  It's a quick introduction to Indian philosophy. Very straightforward and interesting read. Especially the effort put right at the beginning to discern the differences between western philosophy and Indian philosophy right off the bat.

Listening | Blonde on Blonde | Bob Dylan

This is a classic album that I return to when I'm in a certain nostalgic or down mood. You see once I get into the bob dylan listening mood then all I can listen to is Bob Dylan.  I just love the way the music, his voice and the lyrics just envelop you.

Watching | About Alex | Jesse Zwick

There was just something about this movie, beginning to finish, that just really clicked with me. Maybe because I'm a millennial and in some sort of way could relate to the movie. Or I just love movies or stories of complex, interconnected relationships and feel good friendships (huge Dawson's Creek fan here!).  I think it's one of those movies that you either really like or don't like at all.

Outfit Recap 2014

And we are back from the holidays and our trip to India! It was nice to take a little break from the blog as we were travelling back and then getting over jet lag. I can't believe it's already 2015! I thought it would be nice to look back on some of our outfits from 2014. Thanks again for all the love and support!
