We often spend lots of time complaining and whining - I sure am guilty of that. But as I become more and more aware how my self talk has an effect on my overall health I have made a conscious decision to take time out to reflect on what I am grateful for. Now, since I want to be more transparent on this blog, I shall share with you that I am not doing this everyday. Because when I have to do something everyday like this, I start to dread it, therefore I do it when I feel like it!

What moment this week am I grateful for?

A simple lunch date at a newly discovered cafe with my sister

What story are you grateful for?

my own story and journey, for the stories of the souls that walked before me, and for the stories that are yet to come

What abilities are you grateful for?

I'm grateful for being able bodied, having lived with a person with a disability my entire is really eye opening

What memory are you grateful for?

the memory of my childhood spent with my grandparents, the yellow sun and the green grass, the endless bike rides and adventures

What technology are you grateful for?

facetime/skype - it plays a huge role in our family, whether it was my year away or when my sister went away. It allows us to be available to one another and stay connected.

What aspects of your work environment are you thankful for?

because I run my own business, I am grateful for using my creativity, I'm grateful for being able to work whenever I want and where ever I want. And most importantly I'm grateful that I am in this business partnership with my sister!

What challenge are you grateful for?

the challenge of hiking Joeffre lake up to middle lake - which seemed impossible for me, especially after my back injury. But I did it!

Give these questions a try yourself - we would love to read any of your answers!

California Roadtrip Travel Basics to Pack

If you have been following us along on Instagram or Snapchat (@footnotesnfinds) then you know that last month we headed to sunny California! We headed on a long drive down the pacific coast highway (we will have a blogpost on that soon). In getting ready for the road trip to California I made a long list of must takes, making sure not to overpack since it was going to be long Roadtrip with a big group of us going.  I knew we would be spending some time on beaches and in the sun along with a day at disney land. Thus I laid out some basics:

  1. Sunglasses
  2. swimwear/ beach wear
  3. lots of sun protection! I am officially addicted to the smell of my Rocky Mountain Soap Co. Vanilla Coconut Natural Sunscreen - it is such a pleasant smell that I continue to use it everyday even after our road trip. We seem to forget about our lips when it comes to sun protection, but I brought along my Rocky mountain lip butter with spf
  4. Sun burn treatment: I am also prone to get burnt here and there so the after sun body butter from Rocky Mountain Co. was quite helpful. I was wishing I had it during my trip to Hawaii where I got burnt quite bad!

Do checkout all the other products that Rocky Mountain has to keep you safe and feeling fresh in the sun: Hydrating outdoor Citrus Mint Butter & Outdoor Spray
  5. Along with sun protection I also packed a pair of Crocs flip flops for the beach, I didn't want to ruin my Birkenstocks.
  6. my Birkenstocks - this is a must for me for almost every trip. Travelling usually requires lots of walking and Birkenstocks are perfect for that!
  7. a small mini backpack in which we can carry some basic necessities with me during daily excursions.
  8. a small first aid kit
  9. Also an empty water bottle that I can refill and carry with me to keep me hydrated.
  10. Lastly an Ipod with an awesome road trip playlist

florals and stripes

every summer there is a trend I fall in love with. And summer being
my favourite season means I just never want it to end.
So although we might be inching towards the end of summer
I wanted to share
some of my favourite picks and trends of this summer -
summer 2016!

This year I was in love with all things florals and stripes!
I just love being able to throw on one piece of clothing and
my birkenstocks or sandals and ta da i’m ready!
Floral dress with the off the shoulder cuts just adds a
romantic touch to the dress. great way to feel special on a nice
summer evening.

I also love the casual yet feminine feel to the striped dresses
we have selected.  Again these stripped dresses are great
for the day time in the summer whether a summer picnic
or walk along the seawall.

My favourite Rocky Mountain Soap Co Face Products

It was about a year ago we discovered Rocky Mountain Soap Company and instantly fell in love.  We were first drawn to it because these products were handmade locally in the rocky mountains. They were toxin free made with natural ingredients. Rocky Mountain Soap Co. came into my life when I was becoming more and more aware of how all the products we use in our everyday life include ingredients which are really harmful for our health.  Many of the ingredients included in our products are actually banned in many countries in Europe but are continued to be used in North America.  The thought of these going into my body - since our skin skin absorbs really high amounts of them - really started to scare me.  I have been using these Rocky Mountain Soap co products on my skin for over 6 months and I am in love with these products. In fact I recommend them to all my family members and friends. People often have a misunderstanding that there needs to be tons of chemicals in your face products to have that wonderful even toned glowing skin and that it is not possible to achieve  this with all natural products. But let me tell you my friends, having been using these Rocky Mountain Soap co products on my face, I have seen my skin look healthier with a beautiful glow. And I have never experienced anything quite like the Face Polish

This Restorative Face Serum is a must for me every night after my nightly shower.  I put it on before my face cream.  This serum is super rich and penetrates deep into your skin. It is an Antioxidant oil which reveals a natural youthful glow.  And has anti aging properties.

This my friends is one of my favourite Rocky Mountain Soap Co. Products. In fact is is one of my all time favourite products period.  If there is one product you do invest in from Rocky Mountain Soap co this is it! This Bamboo Brightening face polish is nothing like anything I have used ever before.  This is a scrub that exfoliates like no other leaving your face fresh and glowing! It leaves your skin feeling softer than anything before - feels like pure magic! Every time I use it I can't believe how soft it leaves my skin for days.  The tea tree and eucalyptus gives it a beautiful scent that leaves you feeling fresh and awake!

This transformative cleansing oil is amazing! I often use this after I have wiped off all my makeup.  this was created as it says right on the Rocky Mountain Soap site "It was formulated using natures most powerful and restorative oils with the understanding that oil dissolves oil, yes, even blackheads". This oil doesn't just deep clean but it does also has anti inflammatory properties, hydrates, nourishes, and balances out your skin. It's a must try!

I have gone through many eye creams in my adult life.  This Beech Tree Bud Eye Cream has a really key ingredient that makes this eye cream amazing, almost magical! The Beech Tree Bud is known as "Tree of Everlasting Youth". This beech tree bud extract helps with skin resiliency. Coconut and Jojoba oils help with hydration around your eyes. Lastly Ginseng and Green tea are anti oxidants which help with diminishing fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes.

Honestly with Rocky Mountain Soap co products I know that I can have beautiful skin all the while knowing all the ingredients going in are not harmful for me and that they are all natural/toxin free. plus side they all smell really great too!
